On November 13, 2006 Peter was awarded The Jean Schneider Goberman Prize in Composition (Third Prize). The prize is awarded to students of Mannes College and the New School for Music for a winning chamber music composition for piano trio, piano quartet or piano quintet, 7 to 15 minutes in length. The award includes a cash prize as well as a public concert presentation of the winning works at the College in 2006-2007. The Prize is administered by the Alaria Chamber Ensemble.

The prize, named for one of Mannes' beloved chamber music teachers, is open to all students enrolled at Mannes full or part -time in the graduate, undergraduate, extension and pre-college division. Peter won the 3rd place award for his submission: the first two movements (Allegro and Scherzo) of his Piano Quintet in C minor (for two violins, viola, 'cello and piano). First, second and third prize will be presented in public concerts and carry cash awards. The Awards ceremony is at the Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall on Sunday, December 3, 2006 at 2:00 PM. during the concert season of the Alaria Chamber Ensemble.

Twice Peter has been the recipient of an ASCAP FOUNDATION MORTON GOULD YOUNG COMPOSER AWARD.

Here is a picture of Peter getting this award in 2003, for his piano quartet, Seasons Suite.
